About Latin Groove

Latin Groove has been integral to Montreal's vibrant dance community for over 30 years. It all began in the basement of her parents’ popular latin nightclub, where Sandra, the visionary founder, had a dream. She believed that dance should be accessible to all, bringing joy and well-being to people's lives, whether they aspire to become professional dancers or serve as a source of joy and vitality.

In 2016, Sandra took a leap of faith and opened Latin Groove dance and fitness studios on Ste Catherine and Stanley. The overwhelming demand for dance classes and the community's unwavering support propelled the studio's steady growth. This momentum led to the exciting move to a more prominent location in 2022, with additional studios, a full bar, a cozy lounge space, and a vibrant dance boutique.

Our Mission and Community Commitment

Seeing our students drive from the South Shore to attend classes, we couldn't help but be moved. This commitment to our students' convenience is at the core of our mission. "If it’s not easy for them to come to us, we will go to them." This inspired us to expand our reach, bringing the joy of dance closer to them. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 and stalling our vision, the unwavering support of our community has reignited our passion and determination to expand. We firmly believe that through dance, we can create more joy and happiness in our community, and we are excited to offer even more to our community in the days ahead.

Join the Dance Movement

Latin Groove's journey is a testament to the transformative power of dance and the community's resilience. It's a celebration of passion, dedication, and the belief that, as Sandra puts it, “more dancers mean happier people.

Latin Groove is now teaching in Brossard. We’re starting with a few classes and will slowly add more. Let us know what you’d like, and please let your friends know.

Stay tuned, everyone. We're filled with excitement and anticipation for the future. Let’s see where this dance adventure takes us.

Frequently Asked Question

We have many prices according to how many classes per week you take. We invite
you to check our price list and promotions on our website. (LINK)

The best thing would be to start with dance shoes, as they don’t limit your
capabilities. The reason dance shoes work so well is that they are made for this
purpose, fitting the foot as close to perfectly as a shoe can, but with a sole designed
to give the right amount of grip ‘n slip so that every step can be performed with
confidence, no limitations. We do not allow street shoes in our studios. Running
shoes, boots or flip-flops are not recommended in our studios as well. If you are
interested in purchasing dance shoes, we sell prodanceshoes.com. Come and try a
pair and feel the difference in your dancing.

You can always take a private class with one of our experienced instructors or you
can take extra classes during the same week.

There are two ways of registering. You can do it online or at the reception desk at the
studio. Please show up at least 15 minutes before your first class in order to finalize
the registration.

We have classes 7 days per week. Please check out our schedule page for the full schedule. We also book private lessons outside of our opening hours.

WHAT IS SALSA?

Salsa, as we know it today, originates from New York city. It is said that it is a mix of many latin dances like Mambo, Cuban son, cha cha cha, Guaguancó, cumbia and more. The music is a blend of Cuban, Puerto Rican, Colombian, Dominican and American jazz mixed all in one. Celia Cruz said “echale salsita” in one of her songs and thus the name was born. It has lots of variations worldwide. New York style on 2, L.A style on 1, Cuban style, Colombian style, even Mambo style… Whatever you may call it, dance and enjoy!

WHAT IS BACHATA?

Bachata’s dance steps have four beats per measure. In Bachata the dancer takes three steps to the side ending with a tap. The walking basic is similar, with the dancers walking forward and back rather than side to side. As well as 3 steps to the front and ending with the tap. Like in salsa, there are many types of bachata including, Dominican bachata, sensual bachata, and Urban bachata. Fusions are also becoming very popular with multi-disciplinary and experimental dancers.Bachata with its beautifully executed footwork, playful partner work, sexy body isolations and sensual movements, the only risk of taking our classes is that you will become even more addicted to this beautiful, passionate, sensual, challenging, and very addictive dance and music called BACHATA! Join the fun.
