Latin Groove was founded in Montreal in 1999 by Sandra Campanelli, a woman whose life has always been shaped by music, dance, and community. Born into a family where art and music were a way of life, Sandra was destined to move to a rhythm all her own. Her father, a gifted Italian musician with the soul of a performer, filled the house with melodies that seemed to dance through the walls. Her mother, a passionate Chilean singer whose voice carried both strength and emotion, taught her that music is a language of the heart. And her brother, Ricky Campanelli, followed that same calling — now an international Latin music producer and performer who brings Montreal’s vibrant Latin sound to audiences around the world. Growing up in this world of creativity and expression, Sandra’s love for dance was never just learned — it was inherited.
From a young age, Sandra shared her passion with those around her — teaching friends and family how to dance long before it became her profession. Guided by curiosity and dedication, she traveled often to New York City to learn from world-renowned salsa legends such as Sonny Allen and Eddie Torres, shaping the foundation of what Latin Groove would later become.
Sandra’s artistic journey has always been about sharing joy through music and movement. As the lead singer of her band, Sandra & The Latin Groove, she brought Latin rhythms to audiences around the world. Her debut album Sinceramente Sandra sold thousands of copies across Quebec, and her single Mamasita reached #8 on the Canadian Billboard Dance Charts.
Her songs have been featured in major international films like Taking Lives (starring Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke) and The Last Kiss (starring Zach Braff and Casey Affleck), featuring her song El Pilon.
Over the years, Sandra’s work has been recognized with awards such as Estrella Latina (2003) and Band of the Year (2004) — acknowledgments she holds close to her heart not for fame, but for the joy of knowing her art connects people.
What began as one woman’s dream has become a thriving community. Today, Latin Groove is a leading Latin dance school in Montreal and Brossard, offering over 120 weekly classes, from salsa and bachata to kizomba and Latin fitness.
But beyond the classes and the music, Latin Groove is a family — a place where people from all walks of life come together to learn, to laugh, and to feel part of something bigger.
After years of experience, challenges, and growth, Sandra turned her dream into reality with the creation of Latin Groove. What began as a small studio quickly became Montreal’s leading Latin dance school — a place where music, diversity, and friendship unite.
Today, Latin Groove offers over 120 weekly dance classes across two thriving locations — Montreal and Brossard. Students can explore every Latin style imaginable, from Salsa and Bachata to Kizomba, Cha-Cha-Cha, and Latin fitness.
But Latin Groove is more than a dance school — it’s a cultural institution and a community hub where thousands of dancers, from beginners to professionals, come together to grow, connect, and celebrate life through movement.
Latin Groove has produced and hosted some of Montreal’s largest Latin dance events, festivals, and outdoor socials, including collaborations with Montréal Centre-Ville and the City of Montreal.
Each summer, Latin Groove brings thousands together through free outdoor dance events in the heart of downtown — at Dorchester Square, Phillips Square, and other iconic Montreal landmarks.
Our team continues to set the standard in Latin entertainment, offering live performances, shows, and corporate events that showcase the richness of Latin culture.
