Frequently Asked Questions

Registration and Class Information:

It depends on every person. We suggest you take an evaluation with us to orient you
to the level best suited for you based on our Latin Groove curriculum. Intro classes
are the foundations of the dance. That’s where you learn all the necessary footwork,
turns, rhythm and musicality. If you have no experience, the Intro classes are
mandatory before the in- class group evaluation to move up a level.

If you are new to Latin Groove but have taken classes before, we will evaluate your competencies and put you in the right level based on our curriculum. The price for an evaluation for new students is 10$, but this value will be deducted from any package purchased the same day. Evaluations happen on week nights between 5pm and 9pm. Please present yourself at the reception and we will create you an account with us before the evaluation starts. If you are a Latin Groove student, individual evaluations are included in your package. Evaluations are available on week nights between 5pm and 9pm. In-class group evaluations are incorporated at the end of each 5-week session from introduction level to level 2. It is requested that an individual evaluation or in-class group evaluation is passed before moving to a new level.

If you are taking only 1 class a week, that is only 1 hour a week. That is definitely not
enough. We estimate that you’ll forget at least 50% of what you were taught. Ideally
one should practice on their own during the week, before your weekly classes. The
more you practice the more you learn. We have the lounge area available for Latin
Groove students during our opening hours . If you’d like to advance even faster, we
offer private classes with a choice of teachers. Please check out our price list for all
our private lesson packages.

At Latin Groove, we teach many different styles of dance. We have latin dances
(salsa, bachata, cha-cha, merengue, cumbia etc.), we have international dances
(samba, semba, kizomba, Bollywood, reggaeton, tango, ballroom etc.) we have more
technical classes (styling, turns, footwork, shines, musicality, jazz etc.) and we have
fitness classes (Zumba, cardio workouts, yoga, stretching etc).

The easiest dance we teach is the merengue, but all our classes start at the beginner
level so even if you’ve never danced before, you can take your first steps with us.
There is not one specific dance that you should start before the other. We’ve seen
students who have never danced before take 3 dances and excel at them all. The
trick is the practice time you give it.

Definitely not! Dance has no limits! Our students range from 3 – 99.
If you have a partner, great, if you don’t, you will be paired up with another student in the class. We switch partners very often so everyone learns the right technique to follow and lead.

Switching partners is not an obligation. However switching partners is the best way to
learn proper leading and following techniques. We strongly suggest you switch
partners but it is your choice.

Depending on the type of class, the level and the hour it’s given, we have between 6-45
students in each class.

You are welcome to register beforehand or arrive and scan your membership card at the
entrance of the studio. Both options are possible and will allow you to take a class with us.

We have many prices according to how many classes per week you take. We invite
you to check our price list and promotions on our website. (LINK)

The best thing would be to start with dance shoes, as they don’t limit your
capabilities. The reason dance shoes work so well is that they are made for this
purpose, fitting the foot as close to perfectly as a shoe can, but with a sole designed
to give the right amount of grip ‘n slip so that every step can be performed with
confidence, no limitations. We do not allow street shoes in our studios. Running
shoes, boots or flip-flops are not recommended in our studios as well. If you are
interested in purchasing dance shoes, we sell prodanceshoes.com. Come and try a
pair and feel the difference in your dancing.

You can always take a private class with one of our experienced instructors or you
can take extra classes during the same week.

There are two ways of registering. You can do it online or at the reception desk at the
studio. Please show up at least 15 minutes before your first class in order to finalize
the registration.

We have classes 7 days per week. Please check out our schedule page for the full schedule. We also book private lessons outside of our opening hours.
